A 25-year-old Corkman appeared before the Special Criminal Court in Dublin today charged with membership of an unlawful organisation in December 2003.

Aidan O'Driscoll, aged 25, of Glenheights Park, Ballyvolane, was arrested at his home at 5.55am today under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and charged with membership of an organisation styling itself the IRA, otherwise Oglaigh na hEireann, otherwise the Irish Republican Army on December 15, 2003.

Detective Sergeant Ger O'Mahony of Mayfield Garda Station gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.

The accused was returned for trial on October 4, 2005.

Mr Justice Richard Johnson, presiding, granted bail on the accused's own bond of €6,000, an independent surety of €12,000 and on condition that he surrender his passport and abide by a daily curfew from 11pm until 7am.
