Curtin lawyers challenge Oireachtas committee validity

Lawyers for Judge Brian Curtin have challenged the validity of the Oireachtas committee charged with gathering of evidence for his removal.

In a letter to the Oireachtas on Friday, they set out grounds why they believe that the process is unconstitutional and flawed.

The judge's legal team is also expected to seek a High Court injunction to stop impeachment proceedings.

Among the grounds reported to have been cited by the lawyers include their belief the Oireachtas acted illegally in the establishment of the committee.
