A PSNI officer has suffered leg injuries after being knocked down by a car near the Ormeau Road in south Belfast early this morning.

A PSNI officer has suffered leg injuries after being knocked down by a car near the Ormeau Road in south Belfast early this morning.

The incident happened while officers were responding to reports of a burglary in Rossmore Park.

The officers were approaching a car in the area when the driver accelerated towards them and ran over one officer’s leg.

The vehicle also struck a police car before speeding off in the direction of the Falls Road.

A second PSNI officer also suffered hip and shoulder injuries yesterday evening when he was struck by a stolen car on the Upper Malone Road in south Belfast.
