Martin welcomes high compliance with smoking ban

Health Minister Micheál Martin has welcomed the high rate of compliance with the workplace smoking ban reported by the Office of Tobacco Control this morning.

The OTC said inspections it had carried out since the introduction of the ban found that 97% of workplaces were complying with the measure.

Speaking in Cork this morning, Mr Martin said he believed Ireland’s international image had been boosted by the ban and that other countries would follow his lead by introducing similar laws.
