Dáil approves legislation to establish Curtin inquiry

The Dáil has passed legislation that will force Judge Brian Curtin to appear before an Oireachtas committee investigating his affairs.

Another piece of legislation allowing members of the committee to view the child pornography at the centre of the Curtin affair was also approved by TDs last night.

Opposition parties said they were concerned about the speed at which the legislation went through the Dáil, but they did not vote against it.

A motion establishing the committee to investigate Judge Curtin’s conduct is expected to be introduced by the Government next Tuesday.
