The Irish branch of Amnesty International has said the Government’s citizenship referendum highlights the lack of a coherent immigration policy in Ireland.

The human rights organisation said it would not be advising people on how to vote, but it criticised the timing of the referendum and said it could hamper Ireland’s move to a multicultural society.
