Tánaiste: No arrangement in Curtin affair

The Tánaiste has today reiterated the Government's position on the impeachment of Judge Brian Curtin, stating that there was no question of a financial arrangement being reached.

Mary Harney was commenting on the situation after the cabinet was informed that Judge Curtin was too ill to assist with the Oireachtas investigation.

She stated that it was the constitutional responsibility of the Oireachtas to enquire into the matter, and that this will proceed with a motion being tabled by the Government next week.

The District Court Judge was cleared of the charge of possession of child pornography last month because a search warrant used by gardaí to enter his home had expired.
