Addict jailed after syringe threat on doctors

A drug addict who threatened two doctors at Beaumont Hospital with a blood-filled syringe has been jailed for four years by Judge Des Hogan at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court

Patrick Byrne (aged 26) from Mountainview Drive, Rathfarnham pleaded guilty to the attempted robbery of Dr Deirdre Lim and Dr Thuraya Bulhaj who were threatened with the syringe after they withdrew money from a cash machine at the hospital on Christmas Eve, 2003.
