Referendum: Children’s Rights Alliance calls for ‘no’ vote

The Children’s Rights Alliance has called for a ‘no’ vote in the Government’s citizenship referendum.

The alliance, which represents 76 non-governmental organisations, said the referendum, if passed, would contravene the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

It said there was much confusion surrounding the referendum, but the one certainty was that it would reduce or compromise the rights of some children.

The Children’s Rights Alliance is due to launch its campaign for a ‘no’ vote today.
