FF facing battle for North-West seats

Fianna Fáil is facing a battle to win two seats in the North-West constituency at the upcoming European election, according to an opinion poll published this morning.

Fianna Fáil’s Jim McDaid topped the poll with 18%, while his running mate, Sean O’Neachtain, had 15%.

Independent candidate Marian Harkin had 16%, Sinn Féin’s Pearse Doherty had 15% and Fine Gael’s Jim Higgins had 14%.

The Irish Examiner/Questions and Answers poll also found that 47% of voters in the North-West constituency supported the Government’s citizenship referendum, while 43% opposed it.

These figures are a lot closer than those uncovered in a nationwide poll published yesterday morning.
