Green Party launches campaign for referendum ‘no’ vote
The Green Party has launched its campaign for a ‘no’ vote in the June 11 citizenship referendum.
The party said today that the Government had failed to make the case for the referendum and was instead pandering to racism and intolerance in Ireland.
It accused the Fianna Fáil/Progressive Democrats coalition of debasing politics at the expense of the most vulnerable people in Irish society.
The Greens also said the Government had not devoted enough time to a debate on the matter and its claims that “citizenship tourists” were putting hospitals under pressure did not stand up to scrutiny.
