Jury finds man not guilty of indecently assaulting niece

A man accused of indecently assaulting his niece over a number of years has been found not guilty by a Central Criminal Court jury before which he represented himself during the nine-day trial.

The jury of eight women and four men returned the unanimous verdict after deliberating for four-and-a-half hours over the 12 charges he faced of indecently assaulting the woman between 1973 and 1981 at a West Dublin address. She was aged between five and 12 at the time.
