Lawyers begin campaign against referendum

A group of 150 lawyers have launched a campaign against the Government’s proposed citizenship referendum.

The lawyers accused the Government of putting political expediency ahead of constitutional integrity by seeking to remove the automatic right to citizenship for all children born in Ireland.

Their campaign against the referendum was launched in Dublin today by Trinity College lecturers William Binchy and Ivana Bacik.
