Pharmacists demand consultation on drugs bill
Better management of the national drugs bill could save the government €100m a year, according to the Irish Pharmaceutical Union, which holds its AGM this weekend.
The pharmacists' group says money is being lost through unnecessary ordering of medicines and the failure to promote the use of generic drugs.
Newly-elected President of the IPU Karl Hilton is calling on the Minister for Health, Micheál Martin, to consult with pharmacists so that services can be improved.
