FG react to Minister’s ‘negative campaign’ claims

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny has reacted angrily to claims made by Micheál Martin accusing the opposition parties of running negative and arrogant election campaigns.

The Minister for Health claimed Fine Gael and Labour, along with the Greens, are spending their time attacking the Government instead of establishing clear policies.

But speaking at the launch of Fine Gael's European election campaign in Dublin, Enda Kenny said Minister Martin should be more concerned about the managing the health system than making spurious claims.

At the launch, Fine Gael candidate for Europe Maireád McGuinnes said the latest increase in the price of oil, bringing it close to €1 per litre, has the capacity to bankrupt people.

She said the Government should immediately reverse the five cent tax on petrol and diesel they imposed in the last budget.
