Man charged with biggest cocaine seizure in North

A man has appeared in court in Belfast charged with possessing around €1.5m worth of cocaine - the biggest ever seizure of the drug in the North.

A man has appeared in court in Belfast charged with possessing around €1.5m worth of cocaine - the biggest ever seizure of the drug in the North.

William Andrew Askin, aged 37, from Oaktree Drive in Antrim appeared at Belfast Magistrates Court on a number of charges including possession of cocaine with intent to supply.

He was also charged with having an automatic pistol, a sawn-off shotgun with intent to endanger life and possessing ammunition.

He was remanded in custody to appear before the court again by video link on June 11.
