'No break-in at Kelly home': Gardaí

Gardaí have said there was no sign of a break-in at the house where former Limerick city councillor Michael Kelly was found shot today.

Gardaí have said there was no sign of a break-in at the house where former Limerick city councillor Michael Kelly was found shot today.

Mr Kelly was found injured after gardaí were called to his mother’s house in O’Malley Park at around 9am.The shooting is believed to have occurred about 20 minutes earlier.

He was taken to Limerick Regional Hospital with what is reported to be a critical head wound.

He was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.

Mr Kelly was also shot in the stomach at his home in Ballyneety two years ago and had recently served a prison sentence for tax and social welfare fraud.
