Number of road deaths up 15% so far this year

The number of people killed in road accidents so far this year is 15% higher than in the same period last year, according to figures released today by the National Safety Council.

The council said 131 people had died on Ireland’s roads so far this year, compared to 114 between January 1 and May 7, 2003.
