FF Ard Comhairle to decide on Beverley Flynn expulsion
The Fianna Fáil Ard Comhairle is due to meet in Dublin tonight to decide whether to expel Mayo TD Beverley Flynn from the organisation.
Ms Flynn was expelled from the Fianna Fáil parliamentary party on Tuesday after losing her Supreme Court appeal against her failed 2001 libel action.
Ms Flynn had attempted to sue RTÉ for broadcasting allegations that she encouraged investors to evade tax while working for National Irish Bank.
However, a High Court jury found that RTÉ’s report was factually correct.
Ms Flynn has attracted much sympathy within Fianna Fáil since her expulsion from the parliamentary party on Tuesday, but she is expected to also be expelled from the entire organisation when the Ard Comhairle votes on the matter tonight.
