The Sisters of Mercy have apologised unconditionally to people who were abused while in their care at children’s homes between the 1920s and 1980s.

At a press conference today, the order asked for forgiveness from those who suffered physical or emotional abuse in industrial schools and orphanages operated by the Sisters of Mercy.
