INO: ‘Hospitals unprepared for possible May Day emergencies’
The Irish Nurses Organisation has claimed that hospitals in Dublin are completely unprepared for any potential influx of patients over this May Day weekend.
The organisation said no extra staff have been rostered to deal with any possible emergencies, despite garda claims that up to 300 violent protestors are planning to start a riot at anti-EU demonstrations on Saturday.
INO general secretary Liam Doran said the precautionary measures taken in the area of security have not been reflected within the health service.
“If a certain additional tranche of people appears, the standard of care will not be what it should be and the levels of stress and strain on staff will be wholly unacceptable,” he said.
