Tánaiste defends May Day security plans

The Tánaiste, Mary Harney, has defended the massive security operation being mounted ahead of this weekend’s anti-EU protests in Dublin.

Ms Harney said today that the gardaí could not afford to take any chances and must be prepared to deal with violence if it erupts.
