Mayo FF opposed to Cooper-Flynn expulsion
Fianna Fáil councillors in Mayo have voted unanimously to oppose any efforts to expel Beverly Cooper-Flynn from the party.
Fianna Fáil is planning to propose the removal of the party whip from the Mayo TD at a meeting of the parliamentary party next week.
The Fianna Fáil Ard Comhairle will also decide next week whether to expel her from the party organisation.
Speaking about the matter this morning, Fianna Fáil councillor Jimmy Maloney said he and his colleagues in Mayo agreed unanimously at a meeting last night that Ms Cooper-Flynn had been “badly done by”.
Cllr Maloney said Deputy Cooper-Flynn was merely implementing company policy when she encouraged National Irish Bank investors to evade tax by putting money in offshore bank accounts.
