Prison wing cleared ahead of planned anti-EU protests

The majority of a wing at Dublin’s Cloverhill Prison has reportedly been cleared as part of preparations for this weekend’s anti-EU protests in the capital.

Reports this morning said inmates had been transferred from the wing to Wheatfield Prison in recent days to make room for people who may be detained during the protests. The gardaí have claimed that up to 300 foreign protestors are planning to travel to Ireland and mount a riot during the demonstrations.
