A notice for industrial action has been served on Tara Mines in County Meath.

The action comes following a long-running dispute over pay and conditions. The action will begin on May 11 and continue for three shifts.

A complete ban on overtime will also begin on that date.

Meanwhile, SIPTU has confirmed that former Navan Carpets workers are to be paid a total of €1,100,000 in ex-gratia payments.

The Union has secured written confirmation from the liquidator at Navan Carpets that management will honour a 1995 LRC recommendation on redundancy payments for former employees.

It means workers get three weeks pay per year of service, subject to a maximum of 66 weeks pay, and an additional €190 for each weeks service in excess of 22 year.
