Wage claims damaging economy: Taoiseach

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has claimed that wage rates in Ireland are spiralling out of control and damaging Ireland’s economic competitiveness.

In a speech to businessmen in Killarney, Co Kerry, Mr Ahern welcomed a recent decrease in inflation and increases in employment, exchequer returns and GNP.
