Minister planning body to oversee further education colleges

Junior Minister Síle de Valera has announced her intention to create a council to oversee the work of further education colleges.

The move was recommended in the recently-published McIver Report on how to improve the services provided by Post Leaving Cert programmes.

The report recommended that a council be created to co-ordinate policy and research and to encourage co-operation within the further education sector.
