Family of murder victim was unaware of UDA involvement
The family of a Catholic man killed in a fire in Co Down last year have spoken of their shock at learning that he was killed by the Ulster Defence Association.
The report on paramilitary activity compiled by the Independent Monitoring Commission said 36-year-old Michael O’Hare was killed in a sectarian attack by the UDA.
His family said the first they heard of the UDA’s involvement was when they were contacted by the media on Tuesday after the publication of the IMC report.
Mr O’Hare, a father of two, was found dead in his burning apartment in Bangor, Co Down, in March of last year.
