Opposition welcomes Govt’s u-turn on widow’s entitlements

The Opposition has welcomed the Government’s decision to reverse the recent cutbacks it introduced in widows’ social welfare entitlements.

The Fianna Fáil-Progressive Democrats coalition had introduced new restrictions that blocked people already in receipt of a widows’ pension from also claiming unemployment benefit and other payments.
