FG TD expelled amid heated Dáil exchanges

Fine Gael TD Gay Mitchell has been expelled from the Dáil during heated exchanges about the Government’s proposed citizenship referendum.

The Ceann Comhairle ordered Mr Mitchell to leave the chamber after he refused to stop disrupting the proceedings.

Opposition parties sharply criticised the planned referendum and Labour Party leader Pat Rabbitte was also reprimanded for accusing the Government of acting in a dishonest and underhand manner in relation to the proposed constitutional amendment.
