Postal row talks to resume at LRC
Attempts to end the postal dispute are back on the rocks after talks stalled at the first hurdle last night.
Hopes were raised as unions sat down with An Post management at the Labour Relations Commission, but there was an almost immediate disagreement over how best to deal with the build up of mail caused by the strike.
An Post had brought a plan to the table which they felt would clear the backlog.
But this strategy was rejected by the Communications Workers Union (CWU) who said that, given the resources provided by the plan, it would still take several weeks to get back to a normal postal situation.
