The Human Rights Commission and the National Consultative Committee on Racism and Interculturalism have called for Government action to tackle the exploitation of migrant workers.

The two groups are due to launch a report today recommending ways to make Government policy more friendly to migrants and ways to integrate foreign workers into Irish society.

NCCRI director Pat Watt said: “There’s a certain number of rogue employers out there who are out to exploit migrant workers through making illegal deductions from their wages, not giving them time off that they’re due and preventing them from joining a trade union.”
