Canoeists rescued off Dalkey Island

Two canoeists were rescued off Dalkey Island in Dublin today by the Dun Laoghaire Inshore Lifeboat.

Strong winds and heavy rains caused one of the canoes to capsize and the other was unable to paddle to safety.

The pair were brought ashore and taken to Coliemore Hospital by ambulance.

Later, they were able to recover their canoeing equipment which they had bought just 24 hours beforehand.
