State Pathologist carries out post mortem on Tallaght woman

Gardaí are still trying to establish a motive for the killing of a 64-year-old woman in West Dublin.

Her attackers forced their way into a house in Avonbeg Part in Tallaght in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí are searching for clues as to why the 64-year-old woman was targeted in the upstairs bedroom of her home in Tallaght.

Neighbours raised the alarm when her attackers were seen running away after the shots were fired at around 6.20 this morning.

It is understood her husband and brother were also in the house at Avonbeg Park.

Gardaí were on the scene within minutes but the killers had fled.

Neighbours say last night that she had collected envelopes for her local church’s parish lottery draw.

The state pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy will carry out a post mortem examination later today.

Gardaí are asking anyone with information to contact detectives in Tallaght immediately.
