Dublin's Lord Mayor Royston Brady is calling on the State's television companies to examine alternative venues for a concert to welcome 10 new countries to the EU.

Dublin's Lord Mayor Royston Brady is calling on the State's television companies to examine alternative venues for a concert to welcome 10 new countries to the EU.

It follows the cancellation of a major concert last night, when traders from O'Connell Street objected to the closure of the street for five days.

The open air gig entitled 'a beautiful night' was being organised to welcome ten new countries to the EU.

There are now calls for the event to be restaged at another location.
