Govt approves construction of new Cork School of Music

Education Minister Noel Dempsey has announced Government approval for the construction of a new €60m School of Music in Cork.

Mr Dempsey said the facility would be built and operated by Jarvis Projects under a public-private partnership.

The new school was originally due to be completed by next year, when Cork becomes European Capital of Culture.

However, the project was delayed due to Government cutbacks and will not now be ready in time.
