3,500 take part in Dublin parade

3,500 people are taking part in Dublin's Saint Patrick's Day parade, with marching bands, colourful floats and performers participating in the most colourful day of the year.

Parades have been organising throughout the country in honour of the patron saint.

However, soaring insurance costs have led to the cancellation of parades in several towns and villages.
