Cork man pleads not guilty to murder
A Cork man has pleaded not guilty to the murder of a man at the Central Criminal Court today.
Mr Mark Allingham (aged 23) of Fr Murphy Place, Midleton, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Gerard Hackett (aged 49) - who lived in a homeless hostel - on an unknown date between October 16, 2002 and October 21, 2002 at The Rock, Towns Park, Midelton in Co Cork.
A jury of three women and nine men was sworn in by Mr Justice Paul Carney at the Central Criminal Court. The jury is to begin hearing evidence on Friday and the murder trial is expected to last four days.
