Irish consumers are still afraid to shop on the Internet, according to the Director of Consumer Affairs.

Irish consumers are reluctant to purchase goods on the Internet, according to the Consumers Association of Ireland.

Spokesman Dermot Jewell said yesterday that fears of potential credit card fraud was the main reason why Irish people generally avoid Internet shopping.

The matter is due to be discussed today at a conference in Dublin to coincide with European Consumer Day.
