Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams has welcomed the Irish and British governments’ promise to push for progress in the peace process after St Patrick’s week.

Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams has welcomed the Irish and British governments’ promise to push for progress in the peace process after St Patrick’s week.

Speaking in New York, Mr Adams also criticised what he described as a “feeding frenzy” against Sinn Féin by the Irish political establishment in the run-up to this year’s local and European election.

He also said that Sinn Féin was willing to work with the Democratic Unionist Party, but added that the anti-agreement party should not be allowed to set the political agenda indefinitely.
