Kerry footballer makes allegations of drinks price-fixing

A file has been sent to the DPP after allegations of price-fixing by pub suppliers in Munster were made by former Kerry footballer, Tommy Doyle.

Mr Doyle has given a statement to the Competition Authority claiming drinks suppliers in the province met on a regular basis to fix their prices while he worked for a Guinness subsidiary during the early 1990s.

He claims the suppliers also tried to squeeze out a supplier who would not take part in their cartel.

Michael Kilcoyne of the Consumers' Association said that if the law has been broken, the culprits could be jailed.
