Martin: More doctors needed
The Minister for Health has asked for the number of senior doctors to be doubled, if the controversial Hanly report is ever to succeed.
Micháel Martin has set a target of employing 3,000 consultants by the end of the decade, in order to provide high class cover to patients across the country, and not just in heavily populated areas.
He claims this will require the re-negotiation of the consultants' contract with the State, a move they've rejected pending the resolution of insurance difficulties.
