Live WWII mortar bomb found
A live Second World War mortar bomb was discovered outside a health centre in west Belfast today.
Army explosives experts defused the device during a major security alert.
The Stewartstown health centre was evacuated and all vehicles moved from the car park after workmen found the mortar.
Police warned the bomb, which was in an unstable condition, could have detonated at any stage.
A spokeswoman said: “It was in a dangerous condition and could well have exploded. It was lucky these workmen spotted it.”
