The National Parents Council and FBD Insurance have launched a new safety campaign aimed at reducing the rate of accidents involving teenagers.

One in six deaths and injuries on Irish roads happen to children under the age of 18.

It will involve school seminars and competitions to raise safety awareness, especially in relation to the roads.

Safety manager at FBD Insurance, Kieran Roche, has said the campaign will target cyclists and pedestrians, who are victims of nearly a quarter of all fatal road accidents.
