Woman escapes Derry petrol bomb attack

A 19-year-old woman escaped injury when petrol bombs were thrown at a flat in Derry early today.

A 19-year-old woman escaped injury when petrol bombs were thrown at a flat in Derry early today.

One of the devices struck the window frame of the second-floor flat on Spencer Road at around 4am.

The other petrol bomb entered the flat but failed to ignite.

The attack caused minor scorch damage to the window.

A number of items were taken away by police for forensic examination.

Police said they were keeping an open mind about the motive but did not believe the incident was sectarian.
