Killybegs fishermen hit out at Govt catch curfews

The Killybegs Fishermen’s Organisation has criticised a Government order banning the landing of fish catches in the early hours of the morning.

The order bans fishermen from landing catches of herring, mackerel and horse mackerel between midnight and 8am on weekdays and between 6pm and 8am on weekends and public holidays.

It applies to fishing ports in Rathmullen, Killybegs, Rossaveal, Galway, Dingle and Castletownbere.

The Killybegs fishermen said the order was related to an industrial relations problem involving Sea Fisheries Protection Officers.
