Gardaí investigating series of hoax bomb alerts in Dublin
Gardaí in Dublin are investigating a number of bomb alerts ahead of a visit to Ireland today by Britain’s Princess Anne.
The Garda Press Office said the alerts were raised following a number of telephone calls to media organisations, but all were subsequently found to be hoaxes.
Bomb disposal experts carried out a controlled explosion on a suspicious package found at the scene of one of the alerts on Duck Lane in Smithfield, but the package turned out to be an elaborate hoax.
