Planning body rejects U2's costs claim

An Bórd Pleanala has reportedly rejected U2's efforts to get taxpayers to foot the bill for their unsuccessful attempt to save their Dublin docklands studio from demolition.

The band had lodged a claim for the full costs of their failed challenge to the compulsory purchase of the studios on Hanover Quay.

However, reports this morning said the planning appeals body had rejected the claim.

The Dublin Docklands Development Authority purchased the Hanover Quay studio from U2 as part of a €2bn plan to redevelop the Grand Canal Dock area.
