Bettina Poeschel murder jury to resume deliberations

The jury in the trial of a Co Louth man accused of murdering a German woman in 2001 will resume their deliberations at the Central Criminal court today.

42-year-old Michael Murphy has pleaded not guilty to the murder of 28-year-old Bettina Poeschel.

Ms Poeschel's badly decomposed remains were found lying in dense undergrowth at Donore some three weeks after her disappearance on September 25, 2001.

The jury of seven men and five women failed to reach a verdict last night after over two hours of deliberation.

They've been ordered to bring back a unanimous verdict.
