Govts combine salmon knowledge to save industry
The Irish and British governments have joined forces in an attempt to preserve the salmon industry.
The two governments have applied to the EU for measures to safeguard the farmed salmon sector of both countries from the surge of cheap imports from outside Europe.
Norway, Chile and the Faeroe Islands are seen as the biggest threat to the industry.
It is hoped that a joint Anglo-Irish approach will ensure a better reception at EU level.
